Bani’s Book Club presents Michael DeMaria: “The Way of Twilight”

Date: Sunday, January 5th, 2025

Time: 2pm PST / 5pm EST

Host: Bani Hosseini

The ‘Way of Twilight’ is an exploration of how creativity is a powerful pathway to healing trauma and the most soulful answer to suffering. This talk will draw on Michael’s poetry, music, and new film, The Twilight Café, to help participants see how tracking twilight moments, which Michael also calls soul tracking, helps us each find the moment of eternity that is waiting for each of us every day, as William Blake would say. This will include Michael sharing some poems, music, and time for Q&A.

About Michael DeMaria:

Dr. Michael Brant De Maria’s life took a profound turn 30 years ago. Experiencing compassion fatigue, burnout, and suicidal thoughts from working with over 2,000 cases of severe child abuse and neglect as a child protection team psychologist, he embarked on a life-transforming vision quest guided by a native elder. This journey, which involved going without food or water alone in the wilderness, led to profound heart-opening and an awakening of his first loves of nature and creativity, while instilling in him a sense of the deep mystery of living and dying, far beyond anything we are taught in modern culture.
